About H Kahan Opticians
Here at H Kahan Opticians, we offer all of the usual services you would expect to find at your caring family eyecare practice, including NHS and private eye testing and examination (including screening for glaucoma, diabetes, cataract, etc.) and supply of a comprehensive range of glasses and contact lenses.
In addition, Henry Kahan is an accredited member of the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists. As a Developmental Optometrist, Henry is familiar with the unique demands of different activities that people engage in on a daily basis. He is trained to understand, for example, the vision skills required for reading, writing and spelling and other areas of academic classroom performance. This then allows for specific, stimulating activities to be targeted at correcting any weak areas.
Behavioural Optometry is a specialisation within Optometry that focuses attention on the quality of visual skills rather than just the ability to “see”. It investigates how the brain, eyes and body work together as a team and although we are born with a pair of eyes, the process of understanding what we see is a learned skill.
Henry has helped many people with a variety of vision problems. Sometimes patients think that these problems are due to other causes; ADHD, reading and learning disabilities, when in fact, vision is at the root of their difficulties.
Often many factors contribute to their struggles and vision is one of the major causes. In most cases, Henry finds that treating the vision problem plays a crucial role in their overall treatment, and a surprising, remarkable and very gratifying improvement on all manner of achievements often results.
It is knowledge that is turned into practice here at H Kahan Opticians, where so many people find solutions to their vision-related problems, sometimes following years of being told that their vision is just fine.
